Detection in Stars
Technetium has never been found on Earth’s crust. This is why the element has to be artificially made. Technetium has, however, been found in numerous stars in space. The presence of technetium is often detected in M, MS, MC, S, and C category stars. Since technetium has a short half life, the longest being 4.2 million years. When a star with technetium is spotted, it usually has recently formed technetium isotopes. Technetium can be spotted in the stars because of the certain color of light it gives off. Usually it gives off a red color light.
